Bunting® Magnetic Liquid Traps are designed to remove ferrous tramp from liquid processing and conveying lines.
 
They provide dependable protection against tramp iron contamination and come equipped with powerful, high-energy Neodymium magnets to capture even weakly magnetic debris like work-hardened 300 series stainless steel fragments.

The new Tapered-Step design for our plate-style series of Magnetic Liquid Traps is structured to hold ferrous debris against its solid tapered step to prevent wipe-off of tramp iron and fines even in high-density applications for volumes up to 180 gallons per minute (GPM).
 
By designing our industry-leading Liquid Traps with the tapered-step, Bunting® has increased the magnetic strength and reach-out into the product stream and the holding force is increased substantially as well.
 
This is an ideal product for meat, poultry and other processes where higher viscosity products require purification.
 
The Bunting® tapered-step magnetic liquid trap comes equipped with powerful, high-energy Neodymium magnets which are capable of handling a 300º F high temperature load. This makes them ideal for clean-and-place systems.
 
Furthermore, all Bunting liquid traps can handle high-pressure processing lines; the 2” sized models are rated at 250 psi while the 3” and 4” models handle up to 200 psi. All Bunting® liquid traps are tested at 150% of the rated pressure.
 
Configurations include single plate-style in 2 and 3 inch sizes as well as dual plate-style traps in 2, 3 and 4 inch sizes. Standard models feature a food-grade finish however; sanitary-grade finishes are available.

Cartridge-Style Liquid Traps

Trap design forces liquids through a tightly spaced grid of magnetic cartridges to ensure close contact between the product and the magnetic field. Ferrous tramp is magnetically extracted from the liquid flow by powerful Rare Earth magnets and held on the cartridge surfaces. 
For cleaning, you simply remove the cartridge-lid assembly from the trap housing and wipe off the collected metal particles. The T-shaped body of the trap provides a sump in which heavy non-ferrous contaminants such as small stones and 300-series stainless steel fragments can collect.
 
For the Cartridge-Style Inline Liquid Trap, there are several features that are available.
 
The straight-through design allows for liquids with a higher viscosity.
Equipped with powerful Neodymium High Intensity Rare Earth Magnets.
High Temperature Rare Earth Magnets for temperatures up to 300°F.
Cartridge-Style magnets are removed individually and easy to clean reducing labor costs and downtime.
Easy spot check the magnetic cartridge for contamination with unique Clean In Place (CIP) design.
Easy to install where space is a problem.

Single Plate Magnetic Liquid Trap and Dual Plate Magnetic Liquid Trap

The MLT-SP is designed to “throw” contaminants against a magnetic plate and into a deep magnetic field where they are captured and held. This unit’s 3-pole magnetic field creates intense holding forces at either side of the deflector, where ferrous contaminants can be trapped and protected from the wiping action of the liquid flow.
 
The deflector creates a 180-degree change in the direction of flow to agitate the product and expose contaminants that would otherwise be blocked by suspended solids. A 7/8” gap between the deflector and the magnet face allows non-ferrous solids to pass unobstructed.
 
Cleaning requires removing the plate magnet from the housing and wiping the ferrous tramp to the edge of the plate, where it can easily be brushed away. Single Plate Traps do not have sufficient flow area for a 4” line. When this size is required, select a Dual Plate Trap.
 
The MLT-DP’s gently sloped diverter creates a smooth flow pattern that protects fragile products from damage.
 
At the same time, by dividing the product flow over two plate magnets, Dual Plate Traps can effectively handle double the flow rate of a Single Plate model. Alternatively, the MLT-DP allows you to increase magnetic protection by slowing the flow rate and doubling the time contaminants are exposed to the magnetic field.

Bunting® Magnetics Inline Liquid Traps use Powerful Rare Earth Magnets to remove even the smallest ferrous particles from liquids with a higher viscosity. The straight-through design allows liquids with a higher viscosity to travel easily through the trap.
 
High Temperature Rare Earth Magnets are standard for temperatures up to 300º F.
Easy to install where space is a problem
