As polymer enters the screen changer the melt stream is divided equally and distributed through two rheologically optimized breaker plates. This method of filtration provides increased screen area as compared to single breaker plate screen changer designs and maintains a streamlined polymer flow path. Polymer merges back to a single melt stream as it exits the screen changer

Melt Filter K-SWE / LK-SWE

The operating mode of the screen changers K-SWE / LK-SWE for continuous operation (without an interruption of the melt flow) is based on the well-proven principle of two screen bearing pistons. During production, the plastic melt is divided into two flow channels inside the screen changer housing, then conveyed through the two filters equipped with the appropriate filter medium. This filter medium consists of screen packs in conjunction with the breaker plates.

Equipped with 2 screen cavities per screen bearing piston, these screen changers offer a large filtration area in connection with a compact machine design. The 4 screen cavities guarantee constant polymer filtration even for sensitive processes.

The K-SWE-4K-75 differs from the K-SWE-4K in that during a screen change 75% of the filtration area remains in production, giving constant pressure.

Slide Plate Screen Changer FS-Y

The quasi continuous screen changers of the type FS-Y are suited for processes in which neither a pressure constancy nor a complete venting with the screen change have to be realized. In a rheologically optimized channel the material flow is guided through the housing and the therein existing slide plate with the two screen cavities. Between these screen cavities it may be changed over so fast, that the process must not be interrupted for the screen change.
